Bell to be Getting Samsung Galaxy S “Vibrant”

We’ve just caught wind that Big Blue here in Canada will be releasing Samsung’s own Android powerhouse the Galaxy S “Vibrant” edition (the same that can be found on T-Mobile in the States). Now right now it’s unclear exactly what, if anything, will be changed on this model from the TMO edition, but until we have official word, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect!

Galaxy S Vibrant Coming to Canada

Screen

The Samsung Galaxy S family line of phones that have already been released in the Sates main drawing feature is their screen. They all feature a Sammy’s own AMOLED technology which gives amazing depth and range of colours. These all come as a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED which is a pretty nice size right in-between the small size of 3.7inch screens and not too big for smaller handed people like the 4.3-inch screens.

Right below the screen are 4 capacitive buttons for the usual Android functions, Menu, Home, Back and Search (from left to right). These are low enough to not be accidently hit while scrolling or using the screen.

Camera

This bad boy is equipped with a 5 megapixel snapper that seems to do a very respectable job when capturing both stills or 720p video. Camera app load time and the actual process of taking pictures seems fast which is a big bonus, the only drawback here is that there is no flash.

Software

The Samsung Vibrant comes preloaded with android 2.1 with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 skin on top. The TouchWiz interface doesn’t add very much to the whole Android experience except for trying to make it seem more of Samsungs own child. The one really interesting thing I find with it is the Lockscreen, where it allows you to view SMS and missed calls from the lock screen by moving small pieces of a puzzle into the correct place.

One major bonus to the software is that Samsung does preload this baby with Swype which is still one of the best keyboards on any touch device.

Overall this looks like another solid Android release coming soon to Canadian’s and we can’t wait to get our hands on one here at eTechTour, and when we do, trust us there will be our full review up here!
